Caribbean Development Company Limited invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for the above-mentioned position within the Finance Division – Payroll Department.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Accountant in the Payroll Department oversees the functioning of payroll operations, ensuring timely completion of all relevant tasks within set deadlines. They also spearhead process optimization within the section. Moreover, they contribute to accounts payable processing, conduct GL reconciliations and analytics for monthly reporting as well as audits. Additionally, they are responsible for drafting and revising SOPs for the section, actively fostering continuous enhancement of all operational protocols and procedures.

 

REPORTING LINE:

The Assistant Accountant reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer and process employee payroll accurately and timely.
  • Review payrolls prepared by the Payroll Team for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all payroll transactions comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Responsible for all payroll audits both internal and external.
  • Ensure all payroll transactions comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Partner with HR to address and resolve employee payroll inquiries and issues.
  • Supervise the daily operations of the payroll department.
  • Implement and maintain IT governance and compliance protocols in the payroll system, ensuring consistent monitoring of risks.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of data in all payroll-related functions.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline payroll processes.
  • Generate detailed payroll reports and analytics for management review.
  • Responsible for all implementation of new payroll processes and upgrades in the payroll system.
  • Assist with the integration of Payroll Systems with other operating software, e.g. D365; Time and Attendance; Reporting.
  • Testing and implementation of new and improved processes across all payroll systems.
  • Prepare payroll proposals for union negotiations and other analytics as required.
  • Update annual operating plan for manpower cost and analytics.
  • AP function for the processing of payroll, processing of contractors’ payments and documents as requested.
  • Process intercompany charges daily.
  • Cross functional support for month end and year end close off processes to ensure the Department’s deadlines are met.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Level 3 ACCA or equivalent education from a recognized institution.
  • At least five (5) years job related experience.
  • At least three (3) years’ supervisory experience.
  • An understanding of automated payroll systems would be an asset.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Efficient Time Management skills.
  • Working experience in a unionised environment is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain data accuracy.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and relevant IT tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite inclusive of Excel and Power Point.
